  Unfortunately this is the only grocery store in Meaford and owners have taken advantage of that with extremely high prices, especially on fresh fruits and vegetables. If we didn't have the Good Food Box program in Meaford, many people could not afford to buy fresh vegetables. When items are put on sale, they are priced in bulk. You must purchase several of the same item to save 50 cents per unit. I don't need more than one box of crackers at a time. A 2 litre carton of milk is $2.00 more in Valu-mart than in Walmart in Owen Sound. Last week an English cucumber was $1.99 at Valu-mart, I bought one at No Frills in Shelburne for 77 cents. Fortunately, I was going to Shelburne on Friday, so did not make the trip just to buy a cucumber. If the prices at Valu-mart were more in line with the prices at No Frills, we would not be forced to shop out of town. It would be great to support our own community, but not at outrageous prices. Valu-mart and No Frills are both owned by Loblaws, so why are the prices so very different? The stores are very much the same, there is nothing fancy about Valu-mart, so the "no frills" argument doesn't apply. On a positive note, most of the staff at Bill's Valu-mart are friendly and helpful, especially the long term staff. The newer staff members should watch and learn customer service from people like Crystal.

  Bill's is your pretty much run on the mill small town grocery. Carries all the basics of what you need and a few extras.
